The Running Game: Divisional Division

So, yesterday went as expected, but I hedged both picks today, one because PACKERS and two because Kansas City was the Vegas favorite and my boyfriend can get the job done. And he might have, tonight, if not for that $%*#, Fischer. Still, I kind of still didn't expect Pittsburgh to lose tonight, but I'm sad for Alex.

But let's not think about that. Instead, we should think about the end of the Packer game, and the best reactions to it. These social media reactions are pretty meh. My favorite reactions were those heard at the bar where I decided to watch the second half of the game.

  • Upon the successful completion of the second to last Mason Crosby field goal, a guy at the bar yelled, "F&$% YOUR COUCH!", and I really need to incorporate that into my own lexicon.
  • Perhaps the same guy, happy about the Packer win, also felt concern for the well-being of a rookie Cowboy, and called out, a few times, "YOU'RE STILL MY ANGEL, ZEKE!" I can't help but agree with him.

Dak and Zeke and Cole and Dez and Lucky and that offensive line will have their chance, just not this year.

Oh my gawd, what is this water in my eye?

The Running Game: Regular Season Review

It has been a busy few weeks, so it was only today that I put in the final numbers for the regular season. I didn't do as well as last season, but I didn't do that badly either.

There are still tweaks to be made, but first, I need to feed my baby Bruno.

The Running Game: Divisional Clairvoyance

On Friday, my personal trainer asked me for a prediction on the final points for the Texans and Patriots game. I knew the spread was 16 (in favor of New England, of course) and was reminded by a friend from the night before that Houston was shut out by New England in Week 3, who scored 27 points with their 3rd string quarterback. Oh, and the Texans very rarely score more than 17 points per game.

With those facts in mind, my prediction was that New England's score would be above 30, and Houston wouldn't be shut out again, but their score wouldn't be better than mid-teens. This was later repeated to a few other individuals, one that questioned the Patriots' ability to score more than 30 points against the league's best defense, but I held strong.

Not that I wanted the Patriots to win tonight. There are very few things I want to see less than Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, and one of them is him holding that Lombardi Trophy. Their elimination from the playoffs tonight would have been a relief. And I say this even though the elimination of the Texans from the playoffs means that I win $50. Like every other decent American citizen, my hatred for the Patriots runs deep.

Well, anyway, the game finished a few hours ago, so let's take a look at that score...

The Running Game: Wild Card Not-So-Wild

The time of no football is fast approaching, but I have been hard at work, rearranging my worksheets, adding new numbers in order to work on my Home & Away Advantage calculations, and making playoff predictions.

All of my calculations predicted Seattle and Pittsburgh, most had Green Bay, and it was a toss-up between Oakland and Houston. Are there 10 calculations? Sure.
HOUSEAPITGB
1. Official0111
2. Current Home Advantage1111
3. Ranks (Experimental)1111
4. Weighted Wins0110
5. Points0111
6. Wins0110
7. Home & Away Advantage0110
8. Historical0.5111
9. Power1111
10.Power Plus (Experimental)1111
Total:4.510107

So, that all adds up to 31.5/40 = 79% total accuracy. Given that the calculations have no idea that Carr has a broken leg, which hampered Oakland, it looks pretty good.

However, the Super Bowl contenders have hardly changed. It's currently Atlanta or Dallas vs. New England or Pittsburgh.

The Running Game: Week Seventeen Too Popular

Gah! People love me too much. I have two places to go today, and I still need to pokewalk.

Go PACKERS!
