2017: Oh Yeah, Football

If last year was busy, this year is a whole other level. It wasn't until I switched trainers sometime midyear that I remembered to enter Draft and Free Agency numbers into my calculations - this was because during the first or second session, he said that he heard that I was good at picking NFL games.

I remember when Preseason started, in August, I think. I was walking out of work and the TV was showing football. I had to declare that I didn't really think I was ready for some football. I still wasn't when I left for my Summer Vacay on August 18, to Portland, Oregon. But I was planning to come back on the 28th, hang around at home for a week, and finish up all my data entry then.

Then Harvey happened.

And happened.

And happened.

And kept happening...

My flight on the 28th was canceled on the 27th, so I rebooked to the 31st. That afternoon, I told my dad on the phone, who questioned whether that flight would take off, that "during the Memorial Day flood, Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive looked like rivers, but they were dry by that same afternoon. How bad could this be?"

Yeah, I said "how bad could this be?" and meant it.

On the 29th, my flight on the 31st was canceled so I said $#%& it and booked a flight to go back to Wisconsin to see my family. It was nice to be somewhere familiar for a few days and I did get a flight back into Hobby on the 3rd. It was, apparently, Southwest's first flight back into Hobby since Harvey hit and while we landed at quarter to 9pm, the airport was empty. I got home and had to move furniture all day on Monday, then went back to work on the 5th.

But I had responsibilities. I found data and put it in, maybe not in time for Week 1, but it got done.

The second line by my picture was "ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?"
